Mayo River State Park NC-135 – Mayo River Access
Primitive river put-in for canoes and kayaks. Wide sandy banks, wing dams, shoals, a large island, and remnants of a historic batteau navigation system. Fishing and general river access are also available.
Typical route: NC‑135 bridge put-in → Jacobs Creek Batteau take-out near Dan River confluence (~6 river miles; ~2 hrs paddling / ~4 hrs floating).
Accessibility Overview: Beginner-friendly stretch that merges with the Dan River about 1.5 miles downstream.
