Settle Bridge – Dan River Acccess

Situated at the end of Dan River Road, just off Settles Bridge Road in Madison. About 1.5 miles in you will pass Eagle Island Falls. You can choose to paddle on the right or left side. The right side contains a wing dam, while the left side contains a series of drops. The takeout is river right at the hairpin turn in the river.

Accessibility Overview: A spacious gravel parking lot with free vehicle and small trailer space leads to a 10-foot-wide footpath. Access the water via a dirt slope descending a moderately steep embankment to a set of metal stairs with a boat slide. While not ADA-compliant, it provides a reliable entry for most paddlers.
