Farris Memorial Park
Spanning over 270 acres of forested landscapes, athletic fields, disc golf, and serene water features, Farris Memorial Park is Rockingham County’s premier outdoor playground. The park delivers something for everyone—families, fitness enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike—with a rich blend of amenities and activities.
Accessibility Overview: Farris Memorial Park offers ample paved parking, including accessible spaces close to key areas like the entrance and athletic fields. The main walking paths and park roads are well-maintained and smooth, easily navigable for individuals using wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility devices. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and the amphitheater are reachable via these accessible routes, ensuring step-free access throughout the central park areas.
While the park features extensive activity zones—such as baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a disc golf course, and a large pond—some of these amenities, particularly the mountain bike trail, are on natural surfaces and include uneven terrain, stream crossings, and rock gardens, making them best suited for visitors with moderate mobility.

Nice park for walking at lunch. 1 lap about 1 mile around lake. Other stuff to do there also. Mountain bike trails, Mini golf, sports fields, play grounds and bathrooms.
Jun 10, 2025 · Google ReviewGreat Park very kid friendly. Every single time we take our 8 year old son he has a blast and this past time we took him the other day it was him and his 8 year old friend from school they had the best time ever! Highly recommend, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 ⭐s all the way, all day, everyday!
Apr 8, 2025 · Google ReviewThere have been some great improvements over the years since the last time I have visited Ferris Park. This is definitely a worthy, intentional stop for anyone wanting to spend a few hours outdoors enjoying well kept grounds and facilities. I saw at least two groups of frisbee golf players today. The little over 1 mi track through the woods and around the lake has been meticulously maintained and is wide and a very walkable surface for folks of all ages. Furthermore, there are mountain bike trails that weave in and out of the main walking trail. In all, I highly recommend a trip to Ferris Park. Check out some of my recent pictures.
Jun 3, 2023 · Google ReviewNice place to just chill. They really could replace some of the rotting wood on the docks and benches. Nice place to grill and eat under the covered picnic area. I haven't been on the trails far enough to say how they are, but I've heard great things😊If the concession stand is open you can get yummy snow cones😋
May 3, 2022 · Google ReviewFirst time out at Farris and I was pleasantly surprised with everything it had to offer! Walking trails, bike trails, a baseball field, basketball court, mini golf course, and driving range. I went for a chilly bike ride, but will definitely be back as the weather continues to warm up!
