Primitive boat landing and riverside beach within Mayo River State Park. Also known as Mayo Beach. “Boiling Hole” – This section includes a prominent Class II–III rapid (depending on flow) and popular playboating feature right upstream of the sandy beach. Includes Class 1–2 rapids beyond the Boiling Hole, with scenic ledges like the “Grand Staircase” and Byrd Ledge between VA and NC. Ideal for whitewater paddling, floating, swimming, photography, and wildlife viewing.

Accessibility Overview: Gravel/dirt roads—accessible by most vehicles, but caution is advised due to dust and nearby private homes. No restrooms or food services; basic amenities include covered trash bins.

Paddle Skill Level: Intermediate. Advanced paddlers can navigate the Boiling Hole and stair-step rapids; beginners can launch downstream for smoother floats.
