Wildlife Boat Landing – Dan River Access
Located just above the Smith River confluence in Eden. Managed by NC Wildlife. THIS IS THE LAST RIVER ACCESS BEFORE THE DAM. BE PREPARED TO PORTAGE (EXIT RIVER) ON RIVER RIGHT IF YOU PASS THIS ACCESS! DO NOT FLOAT OR PADDLE OVER THE DAM. You must portage the right side of the dam. Do not tube this section. Using a guide while paddling is advised. This beautiful arched Mebane Bridge, built in 1924, is just downstream of the put-in. The portage (exit around the dam) trail is on the right side, opposite the steam plant. You MUST exit the river and hand-carry boats along the trail around the dam. Next, take out is on the right side.
AccessibilityOverview: A gravel lot with approximately 8–10 parking spaces is available. There are no designated accessible (ADA) parking spots. The concrete boat ramp provides access to the river.
