Cycle NC Announces 2026 “Mountain to Coast” Tour Route

Visit RoCo, NC and the City of Eden are excited to announce that Rockingham County will once again be featured on the route for the 2026 Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to Coast” Tour, with the City of Eden serving as one of eight overnight stops on the cross-state cycling event.

Cycle North Carolina revealed the route in a video announcement released on its social media channels on March 2, 2026. The twenty-seventh annual ride will travel from Mount Airy to Hatteras Island, October 4–10, 2026, bringing an estimated 950 cyclists from more than 40 states to communities across North Carolina.

The ride will begin in Mount Airy on October 4 (with October 3 designated as a travel and check-in day), with riders cycling an average of 60 miles per day before finishing on Hatteras Island on October 10. Additional overnight stops along the route include Hillsborough, Henderson, Weldon, Edenton, and Manteo.

“Hosting Cycle NC is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the natural beauty, hospitality, and attractions of Rockingham County,” said Lindsay Pegg, Rockingham County Tourism Manager. “We are honored to once again be part of this iconic statewide event and excited to welcome riders from across the country to experience our communities.”

“We are proud Eden was selected as an overnight stop on the 2026 Mountains to Coast ride,” Cindy Adams, City of Eden Marketing and Special Events Manager, stated. “Events like this bring visitors to our community, support local businesses, and allow us to showcase everything that makes Eden such a special place to live and visit.”

The Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to Coast” Tour is the state’s only cross-state, fully supported ride and was created in 1999 to highlight North Carolina’s scenic beauty, heritage tourism, visitor attractions, and healthy lifestyles through bicycling. Over the past 26 years, the ride has hosted overnight stops in more than 100 North Carolina towns and traveled through over 800 communities statewide.

Online registration is now open at www.ncsports.org, and cyclists are encouraged to register early.
